Family, friends, and members of the Melber, Kentucky, community are mourning the tragic loss of Earl Rogers, who died following a two-vehicle collision in McCracken County. He was 74.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the intersection of US Highway 45 South and Old US Highway 45.
Investigators said Rogers was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima eastbound on Old US Highway 45 when he attempted to cross US Highway 45 South. At the same time, a 2012 Nissan Altima driven by Cynthia Wilhelm, 68, of Paducah, was traveling southbound on US Highway 45 South. The two vehicles collided in a broadside crash.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical assistance to both drivers. Rogers was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Wilhelm was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries and remains under medical care.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Officials have not released any additional information regarding contributing factors, and the investigation remains ongoing.
